Biography:
Arlisha Trotter is a freelance writer, poet, author, songwriter, and hip hop lyricist. Writing is one of her lifelong passions. Trotter has previous publications and plenty of work in progress. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she grew up surrounded by hip hop battles, cyphers, and talent shows at the Wealthy Street Alive. She attended Grand Rapids Community College to complete her GED and graduated with an Associate's Degree in 2012. Known for demonstrating leadership skills, her face has been featured in community and college posters and magazines. Trotter has an MFA in Creative Writing from Grand Rapids Community College, where she participated in stage performances at Black History Month rallies. During her time at GRCC, Trotter joined the Black Student Union as an advocate for women’s issues. She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University.
In 2016, Trotter moved to Georgia, where she and her husband started Family Fortune Entertainment, a distribution company that operated from 2017-2019, handling music, videos, movies, books, clothing, blogs, novels, booking, and service packages. During this time, she wrote and published her first autobiography, "A Hood Love Affair by Arlisha Trotter," which tells the story of a young girl growing up in the ghetto, surrounded by crime and addiction, and her journey from the streets to a life of education, family, and success. Trotter has published three books since then: "What We Do to KEEP Each Other," describing the trials and tribulations of relationships, and "Baby Girl Leads The Way," dedicated to her last born.
During her time at Family Fortune Entertainment, Trotter signed artists Cheezy Scott from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Duke the Singer from Jackson County, and Slick Mija from Athens, Georgia. Under the stage name Molly Ones, she released her first audiobook, HLA, in 2017, along with a single collaborating with her label's artists. Eventually, Trotter decided to pursue her career as an independent rap artist under the motivation to lead by example. She began selling her CDs out of the trunk of her car at local stores and venues, but as CDs went out of style, she adapted to the digital era.
Trotter worked as a radio personality at WXAG 92.7, which kept her connected to the music industry and motivated her return to performing. As Molly Tu Hott, she released her EP "Caution" and performed at various clubs from Athens to Atlanta. She was nominated at the American Entertainment Awards in 2022, receiving the Hip Hop Diva of the Year award. Her tribute performance to Foxy Brown at the 8th Annual Athens Hip Hop Awards landed her in Zebra Metro Entertainment News Magazine. Molly Tu Hott was nominated in 2023 and 2024 at the Athens Hip Hop Awards, bringing home the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award in 2024.
Her rising popularity caught the attention of Flagpole Magazine and Joker Joker TV. She was featured on the cover of Flagpole Magazine on July 5th, 2023, and gave an exclusive interview to Joker Joker TV. Molly Tu Hott has performed at major events and venues such as Georgia Theatre, The Atrium, AthFest, Scrap Stock Live Wire, and Fran’s Franniversary. She has collaborated with artists like Emon the Don, MotorHead x2, Mula Meech, Queen Rae, and Kxng Blanco, and opened for prominent artists like Raheem the Dream, Cassidy, Duce Duce, Jacques, and FS Rudy. She has worked with top promoters and DJs globally and connected with the QEB Foundation in Atlanta to support performances and fundraising events for the homeless.
Currently, Trotter is still with WXAG and recently released her new single "Out My Mind." She is filming her first TV series, "Hit The Plug," and continues to create visual content with videographers like Boog Madison, Fly Vision, Charlie Shot Ya, Brasher Media, and Shot by Mal. Molly Tu Hott is set to perform at ATL Hip Hop Day on September 1st and has been hosting her own hip hop showcases to provide platforms for other artists to hone their skills and receive opportunities for growth. Her goal is to help every artist find their lane.
